Cancellation & Postponement Policy

At Abbey Rents Party Hire, we understand that plans can change unexpectedly. We always aim to work closely with our customers wherever possible. As our hire equipment is limited and reserved specifically for your event, the following cancellation and postponement terms apply to all bookings, quotations, and hire agreements.

Postponement Policy

(Including COVID-related postponements)

Because your selected equipment is secured and allocated exclusively for your event date, we kindly ask for as much notice as possible if your booking needs to be postponed.

• More than 7 days’ notice:
  If your booking is postponed more than 7 days prior to the commencement of the hire period, no postponement fees will apply. Any payments made will be issued as a gift voucher/credit to the full value of your booking, valid for 12 months from the original event date.

• Less than 7 days’ notice:
  If your booking is postponed within 7 days of the hire commencement date, a postponement fee of 25% of the total booking value will apply, with a minimum charge of $250.00.

  This fee covers costs already incurred, including but not limited to:

  • Equipment preparation and allocation
  • Loading and unloading
  • Staff rostering and labour changes
  • Administrative costs
  • Loss of income due to reserved hire equipment

  For larger bookings requiring additional labour, Abbey Rents Party Hire reserves the right to charge further labour costs at $95 per hour where applicable.

Postponement fees apply to all circumstances including, but not limited to:

• Weather conditions
• Natural disasters or acts of God
• Accidents or emergencies
• Trade or industrial disputes
• Government shutdowns or restrictions
• Terrorism, sabotage, or hostilities
• COVID-related disruptions

Abbey Rents Party Hire reserves the right to waive postponement fees at its sole discretion.

Cancellation Policy

• More than 7 days’ notice:
  If a booking is cancelled more than 7 days prior to the commencement of the hire period, the 50% non-refundable deposit will be forfeited. Any remaining balance paid above the deposit amount will be refunded.
• Less than 7 days’ notice:
  If a booking is cancelled within 7 days of the hire commencement date, all monies paid will be forfeited.
• Cancellation on the day of hire:
  If the booking is cancelled on the day of the hire or after the hire period has commenced, all monies paid will be forfeited. Any outstanding balance owing will become immediately payable.
